PR Channel Communication Review

Laifen at IFA 2026: Public Brand Communication Review

How a Chinese personal care brand used product expansion, trade-show participation, awards, retail visibility and public evidence to support a broader global brand story.

Review type: Public communication analysis Analyst: Yang Xiaole · PR Channel Review date: October 10, 2026 Subject: Laifen
Boundary note. This review is based on publicly available press releases, company pages, trade-show information, media pages and retail listings. PR Channel was not involved in Laifen's IFA 2026 campaign unless explicitly stated. The score evaluates the communication structure and evidence use of the public sample, not Laifen's products, business performance or commercial value.
Executive assessment

The brand-upgrade story is clear; the main weakness is evidence precision around stronger claims.

This was more than a trade-show appearance story. The public narrative positioned Laifen as moving from a high-speed hair dryer brand toward a broader personal care technology brand, supported by a larger product portfolio, IFA participation, awards, retail listings and previous sales milestones. The communication framework is credible. The main issue is that claims such as market leadership, category breadth, user preference and growth require different levels of evidence and should not be compressed into one generic idea of “international recognition.”

84Communication review / 100
Core news point

IFA 2026 was used as a visible milestone in Laifen's shift from a single-category strength toward a wider personal care portfolio.

Main issue

Some leadership, “first,” user-preference and growth statements require tighter source scope and claim-to-evidence matching.

Why this case matters

It is a useful example of how product, award, channel and third-party evidence can work together to support a brand transition.

01 · Case facts

Basic public information

The review uses the IFA 2026 communication as the main sample and checks the surrounding public evidence that helps explain the brand story.

02 · Communication path

Two different narratives supported the same brand transition

The communication should not be judged only by where an article was published. The more useful question is what role each market-facing narrative played.

Path A · China-facing narrative

Explain the strategic shift

The Chinese-language story is strongest when it explains the change in brand identity: from a high-speed hair dryer success story toward a wider personal care technology portfolio.

  • Use the established hair dryer business as the trust entry point.
  • Show expansion into oral care, grooming, beauty and other scenarios.
  • Frame IFA as a visible milestone in a longer expansion process.
Path B · International market evidence

Prove the shift with products, awards and channels

International public information is more concrete: product launches, an official IFA exhibitor profile, awards or editorial recognition, and real retail availability.

  • IFA confirms the event context and exhibitor presence.
  • Awards and editorial selections create external reference points.
  • Retail listings make market access easier to verify.
PR Channel observation: different markets do not need identical copy. A China-facing narrative can explain the strategic change, while an overseas narrative can focus on products, event participation, local retail and independently checkable facts. The underlying facts, however, should remain consistent.
03 · Evidence hierarchy

“International recognition” is not one type of evidence

Official awards, independent editorial testing, commercial collaboration and retail availability can all be useful, but they prove different things. They should be labeled separately.

Level A · Official event

IFA exhibitor profile and award evidence

IFA's public exhibitor profile lists Laifen in Hall 9 at booth H9-125 and describes a growing portfolio across hair care, beauty, self-care and grooming. Official event or award pages are strong institutional evidence for participation and recognition.

Level A · Independent editorial

Computer Bild and inside digital

Independent tests or clearly identified editorial selections are stronger evidence of third-party product evaluation than company-issued claims.

Level B · Media recognition + commercial context

01net Innovation Awards

The page presents product recognition but also identifies a partnership context. It can still be used, but it should not be described as equivalent to fully independent editorial testing.

Level A · Retail availability

Boots, Costco and MediaMarkt

Public retailer or product pages are concrete evidence that products are available through named retail channels. They support market-access claims more directly than broad phrases such as “expanding across Europe.”

Boots · Costco UK · MediaMarkt
Evidence-use principle: official event evidence, independent editorial testing, sponsored or partnership content and real retail availability can all support communication. The mistake is treating them as if they prove the same thing.
04 · Fact verification

How the brand-upgrade story is supported

The key question is whether the public facts support the claimed transition from a strong hair-dryer identity to a broader personal care technology position.

05 · Claim review

Nine communication points that deserve close attention

The strongest part of the original narrative is the strategic direction. The main editing work is not to remove facts, but to match stronger wording with stronger evidence.

01

Title scope

“Global leader” or “all-category expansion” creates a strong headline but also raises the evidence burden.

Use the narrowest wording that the available public evidence can support. “Multi-category personal care” is generally easier to defend than an unlimited “all-category” claim.

02

Brand upgrade

Showing more products does not automatically prove that market perception has already changed.

Separate strategic intention from completed market outcome. Words such as “moving toward,” “expanding into” or “building” are often more accurate.

03

Market-leadership wording

The Euromonitor-backed statement is one of the strongest public proof points.

Keep the original certification language intact, including category, period and measurement basis.

04

Product experience language

Specific technical features are useful evidence.

Avoid turning technical facts into absolute experience promises unless they can be independently supported.

05

“First” and preference claims

“World first” and “preferred by young European users” are different claim types.

The first needs priority or patent-style evidence; the second needs audience, sales or research data. One anecdote cannot prove a market-wide preference.

06

User quotations

Event-user comments can make the story more human.

Use them as individual experience, not as proof of general consumer preference.

07

Evidence levels

IFA, independent editorial tests, sponsored content and retail pages are all useful.

They should be labeled by source type rather than compressed into one phrase such as “international authoritative recognition.”

08

Channel and growth claims

Named retailers are already strong evidence.

“Leading growth” or similar comparative claims need actual growth, market-share or ranking data.

09

Global fact consistency

User, household and country-count metrics vary across public materials.

Maintain a shared fact library with metric definition, date, geography and source so different-language materials do not drift over time.

06 · Communication score

Overall: strong structure, but evidence discipline can improve

The 84/100 score applies only to the communication structure and execution quality of the reviewed public sample. It is not a score for the brand, product, market performance, media acceptance, search visibility or business conversion.

07 · Reusable lessons

What other brands can learn from this case

Five useful principles

  1. A brand-upgrade story should be supported by visible business change, not only positioning language.
  2. The old hero category can remain the trust entry point when a company expands into new categories.
  3. Third-party evidence should be separated by level and source type.
  4. Named, verifiable retail channels are often stronger than vague “global expansion” language.
  5. A global brand fact library should standardize strong claims, dates, metrics and source links across languages.

Media-angle implications

  • Business media: strategy shift, European channels and globalization pace.
  • Consumer technology: product engineering, sensors, automation and usage logic.
  • Design / lifestyle: awards, design recognition and user experience.
  • Cross-border business: retail channels, localization and brand repositioning.
  • General news: keep IFA + brand shift + representative products + channel evidence, and reduce product-detail overload.
